As soon as I woke up the next morning, I knew I was in trouble. It was a feeling that came over me almost immediately – one that I had felt several times since it first started when I was twenty. My Omega heat had arrived, and it was a lot sooner than I had anticipated. Usually, it happened once or twice a year about the same time. I had two more months before I was supposed to go into heat. But I knew without a doubt that the sensations I was feeling revealed that it had come early.

Every part of my body was tingling. Even the soft touch of the wind was making my body shiver. I could already feel all of my senses being heightened.

Being in heat was unlike anything I had ever felt. It could last anywhere from a couple of days, to as long as a week, depending on how quickly I could satisfy the urge that was running through me. It was my body's urge to procreate and sometimes it could be so strong that it didn't really matter who it was with. It was a need that had to be fulfilled, and the one time I tried to ignore it, I had been successful, but it had been the most excruciating week of my life. This was the worst time for this to happen.

I started to panic a little bit because it's not something that I can ignore. I can’t keep away from other people. When I was younger and still naive, I had almost been initiated into another clan because the draw to me had been so powerful – mind you, I sensed them from miles away.

As soon as I left the room, Alex would know what was happening. I remembered telling him that I was more than just my heat. I told him that I wasn't going into heat anytime soon. Now, here I was, ready to hump anything that was walking.

This was just one example of the many times that being an Omega had cost me dearly. This time I didn’t know what it was going to cost me. I was in the middle of a human neighborhood, and all I wanted to do was be me, be free, and procreate. It was programmed into me, and even though I could fight my instinct most of the time, this was the one time that I couldn't. I couldn’t just wish it away. I needed to relieve myself. The only way I could carry on with the mission I had started with Alex was to find a man to share a few days of debauchery with.

I worried about what was going to happen when I got out of the room. I didn't know what to do and I was afraid to say anything. A chemical released in my body drew others to me, and my voice changed. My body morphed to make me more enticing, so that I could fulfill the one desire – the desire to procreate.
